Lemonade for Sale

Getting our supplies together to make our lemonade!

We are getting ready to make our lemonade!

The second graders at our school have been reading a story called Lemonade for Sale. Lemonade for Sale is a story about a group of friends who have a clubhouse. The friends work together to raise money to fix up their clubhouse.

We have GREAT parents at our school. The 2nd grade students, teachers, and parents worked together to bring ingredients, make lemonade, and sell lemonade to our school. This morning each class worked together to make the lemonade to sell. We made lemonade using kool-aid packets, lemons, sugar, and water. Ms. Strum worked with small groups of students this morning making lemonade, while Miss Beasley read the story with the rest of the class. Miss Beasley went over the steps on how to make lemonade.

Sequencing with Miss Beasley

We are so very fortunate to have a student from MC who is studying to become a teacher. She has been placed in our room for a month to teach various lessons. Miss Beasley has been great! Today she taught us a lesson on Sequencing. We learned that sequencing tells you the order in which things happen. Miss Beasley told us to look for key words such as first, next, last, before, after, then, finally. These words will help us put the events in order. Miss Beasley gave us sentence strips that were out of order. We had to read the sentence strips and put the steps in order on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We made sure to look for those key words to help put the events in order.

Our Field Trip to the Natural Science Museum

What a great time we had on our field trip today! We went to the Natural Science Museum to study the different types of plants and animals. We went on a Nature Walk, the Smokey Bear Exhibit, and were able to see different types of animals.

Miss Beasley and the class posing for a quick picture while walking on the Nature Trail.

Look what Kenosha found while walking on the Nature Trail....a GOLF BALL! We all thought that was funny!

We got back from walking the Nature Trail and were ready to see what else there was to see at the Natural Science Museum.

After the Nature Trail, we went through an Ocean Maze. We had to spin the wheel and the ocean animal that the marker landed on we had to go and find within the maze.

Everyone waiting to see what ocean animal it stops on.

Jemarcus found his ocean animal......the Sand Tiger Shark.

We went and were able to go through and participate in the Smokey Bear Exhibit. The students were able to participate in many different activities. They were able to work in a kitchen where they learned how to recycle and what an energy efficient house was like. We were able to fish, climb a rock wall, walk on logs, and act out being park rangers. This was a great and enjoyable experience!
