Rounding!

Bryson and Johnathan singing the "Rounding Song".

Today Ms. Strum taught us about Rounding! Ms. Strum taught us a song that would help us remember whether to round up or leave in the same place. The song we learned was "1, 2, 3, 4 Keep that number on the floor. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Move on up the number line." This was very helpful for us to know if we stayed in the same tens or if we moved up to the next tens. Ms. Strum taught us rounding by using the number line. Ms. Strum rolled out the number line #1-100 on the floor. Ms. Strum got out the big foam dice and small little dice. The big foam dice represented the tens place and the small hard dice representend the ones place. We rolled each dice and found the number on the number line that it represents. We followed the rounding rule that we learned today. We were divided into partners and given dice to do the same thing.

Marquavius and Toni hard at work on rounding!

As you can tell, we have been hard at work learning how and when to round. This is a new skill to us this year. We will continue working on this throughout the year.
