Our Class Awards Day

Ms. Strum's Girls with their awards.

Today we had our own awards day as a class! Everyone in our class received an award. We each received two awards. Ms. Strum presented us with a certificate and a candy bar award that described each person! Ms. Strum would describe the person without letting us know if it was a boy or girl. We guessed who received that award! We were right MOST of the time. This was so much fun! Ms. Strum is proud of each and everyone of us. We had a GREAT year! We will do our best in 3rd grade!

Our class in front of the sign that we made for Mrs. Johnson's class!
This week our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders took the MCT2! Each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade class was
adopted by a K, 1st, or 2nd grade class. Our class had the adopted the BEST 4th grade class...Mrs. Johnson's Class! We did so many things for them. At the beginning of the week, we made a sign for the class. We made every student in Mrs. Johnson's Class a card! They were so cute!

The day before the MCT2 test, we gave each of the students in Mrs. Johnson's class a ziploc bag of cookies with a note that said, "You are a SMART (S-Stay focused, M-Mark the right choice, A-Always do your best, R-Recheck your work, T-Take your time) cookie!"

Ms. Strum's students giving each one of Mrs. Johnson's students a treat the day before the test! We wanted to give them a special treat as they reviewed for the MCT2 that they would take over the next 3 days! Over the next 3 days, we gave them pencils, highlighters, erasers, and candy with motivational sayings.

Field Day!

We had our Annual Field Day at school today. We had a FANTASTIC time! We each brought Ms. Strum a plain white t-shirt to tye-dye. This made it so easy to spot our class and classmates! There were lots of games, food, jumping houses, and music. The Field Day committee, teachers, parents, and PTA worked hard, so that we would have a great time! There were lots of games set up for us to play: Obstacle Course, Jump the River, Egg-Spoon Relay, Musical Chairs, Basketball Shoot, Hula-Hoop Relay, 3 Legged Race, and Sponge Water Relay. Ms. Strum's sister, Nancy Leigh, came and spent the day with us!

Everyone had to work as a team to get the hula-hoop over their partner so that their team would win. Ms. Strum's class WON the 1st time, and Mrs. Meeks' class won the 2nd time! We had so much fun playing this game!

Getting our supplies together to make our lemonade!

We are getting ready to make our lemonade!

The second graders at our school have been reading a story called Lemonade for Sale. Lemonade for Sale is a story about a group of friends who have a clubhouse. The friends work together to raise money to fix up their clubhouse.

We have GREAT parents at our school. The 2nd grade students, teachers, and parents worked together to bring ingredients, make lemonade, and sell lemonade to our school. This morning each class worked together to make the lemonade to sell. We made lemonade using kool-aid packets, lemons, sugar, and water. Ms. Strum worked with small groups of students this morning making lemonade, while Miss Beasley read the story with the rest of the class. Miss Beasley went over the steps on how to make lemonade.
